We decided one night to go bowling. It was a lot of fun. 10 of us bowled one and a half games. I couldn't believe my first frame I got a spare...and of course it was down hill from there. But at least I made over 100 pins drop the first game.

Japanese Gardens August 28th

One of the first things we did was go to this beautiful Japanese Garden. My mom didn't want to go anywhere. Her feet were soooo tired. So we sat down while, tour guide Paul took everyone else around. It started to rain. My mom wanted to go find a bedroom. Poor thing was always looking for a place to lay her head.

Every night a different family was assigned to cook the dinner meal. That was soooo smart on Paul and Jennie's part. Good organization. Paul and Jennie did shredded pork and baked beans..Kristina and Jonathan did Chinese Hay Stack.. John, Baba, and I did Shrimp and broccoli, and Diana and Jeff did tacos and quesadillas...all the food we had was outstanding. I gained weight! So when I went to the doctors that darn scale lied again!

August 28th Portland Temple

We like to try to go the temple together. That was soooo nice. This is a beautiful temple inside. Even my mom went through a session. She has not wanted to go with me for a while. So this was great for me.

August 29th Multnomah Falls

On Saturday we hiked up the Multnomah Falls. You can see the from the bottom to the top. It was only a 1.25 mile hike up with 11 switch backs...really it was 22 going back and forth...they counted both up and around as one switch back, My mom could only go as far as 1/2 mile up. I was impressed that she got that far. It was pretty tiring. Of course she complained the whole way up. But I persuaded her to walk up one more hill and sit down on the bench and look at the beauty around us. While I sat there John continued up and met the rest of the gang on the top. As you can see you can look down the falls as well. Over all it was a very fun day as a family. It all reminded me of Tantalus (sp) in Hawaii. Lots of trees and clean air. It was really beautiful.

I couldn't believe my mother wanted to go with us to the Angel Game. Linda Ring and I went together and I had 4 tickets so I invited my mom. She seemed to have a great time. The Pineda's were given tickets too and it was great! Bro. Pineda had a co-worker come and he brought his wife who was from Wahiawa HI. So they talked small talk to my mom.

She ate a sandwich from Honey Baked Ham and she had a sandwich ice cream as well.

Fun stuff...glad we won. 3-2 against the TX Rangers!

May 27-May31st: Anticipating Baby Ridge to be born.....

My mother and I arrived Thursday night on May 27th. Baby due date was May 28th. This was the earliest I could come out to UT. Jonathan and K picked us up at the airport. Megan Mulroney was on the same flight as we were. And the Barnett's were at the aiport picking her. Sis. Barnett gave me the biggest hug. I thought I was going to die. My port was pushing against me...and I didn't want to say anything! Ahh.....but it was nice to see them again!

Baby Ridge finally came out on June 1st at 11:22 a.m. He was 6 pounds 10 ounces 20 inches long. They named him Michael Sekijiro. Tiny little thing...mom is doing great.

Poor Stephanie felt so alone in the morning while we were trying to get home as fast as we could from UT after celebrating Kristina's graduation. But we got there in time to take her out to dinner at the Asia Buffet and to watch "Star Trek" at the Krikorian theatre. So it may have lonely in the morning, but by the evening we had some fun.

My mom came with me and she made herself at home. Look at her feet up on my chair. She did very well at the clinic. She ate her snacks and lunch and couldn't remember she ate anything. Happy 84th Birthday mom! I cut my hair too! I don't have as much hair falling out anymore as I shower. I usually have a hand full of hair every time I wash my hair. Not so much since I cut my hair to my shoulders

Well... this is the cabinet above the toilet that holds all the toilet paper in the world.

You can see the towels I monogrammed that was in the other bathroom. Soon to move out as soon as the other bathroom is finished being remodeled.

If you wondering why we are doing both bathrooms it's because the wood was so rotten the shower would have fallen through to the ground. The outside walls in the entry way had bubbles cracking through and we could see the wood rot from the shower when the door got knocked off by the Kimbrell boys last year. So it has been long in waiting. The floor was so bad underneath the shower that part of it had already fallen to the ground. The walls on the sides were also so rotten due to leakage that it had to be replaced as well. So soon we will have two new bathrooms. This house was built in the 50's so it's over 50 years old. And due for a face lift.

Too funny, you can see me in the mirror. Well that's the best I could do with taking this picture. They will have to put more mirrors around the mirror box. John and Steven are taller than the box so by design John asked them to put additional mirrors going out above and on the sides of the box. They haven't done that yet as you can see.

Steven's Basketball Award Night 3/18/09

Steven received the scholar athlete award for the Freshman class...he got the highest GPA for all the grade levels. So he got a plaque and he got a certificate. He also got another trophy for Mr. Hustle. The coach was so nice to compliment him that he had the most potential to go the farthest because he had all heart. He does everything the coach says to do....No talking back...just very obedient. They were really nice comments.

Fun times! After Kristina's surprise baby shower we got together for dinner at Jennie's sister's, Paula and Brian's apartment (which use to be Paul and Jennie's apartment in Provo).

We had a great time. Gramma Grace with all her children...well....missing Stephanie and Steven and dad. But I can't deny that I had a great time seeing all of them together.

Paul was out recruiting at BYU for his company.

The tub that was there was not functioning so we are happy to get rid of it and put a new one in. We are going to call this our Angel Baseball bathroom. I may not have been her best friend, but she sure was my best friend. I called her the "Sunshine Girl". So I went to Kristina's elementary school to see her student teach these hyper 6th graders. We waited until they were done with lunch so she could introduce her fat mama to these kids.

After I saw myself how fat I looked I decided to change my attire for the birthday party that night and give this dress to K as one of her maternity dresses

Steven's Game at Savanna

As you can see Steven is paying so much attention to what the coach has to say...lol

Tonight they won Century HS 36 1- 16. He played hard and it was fun to watch him get so excited. He definitely is the fastest runner on the team. He runs up and down the court and it's like he is racing himself to get to the other side underneath the basket. He is so funny. He loves to run. He starts track next Friday.

7th Session John learns to make my shots by Nurse Donna

At the clinic before we knew that the insurance company didn't approve of me getting the white blood cell shots, Nurse Donna was showing Doc John how to make my shots. We found out after he had learned that we couldn't take home these shots until the insurance company approved of them. They finally did 4 days later and then my pain began.

So when I woke up from my nap at the chemo clinic I was all alone. Everyone had left already...I was so sad. I couldn't believe I was so knocked out and didn't hear anything or anybody move out of their chairs etc.

So all you get is a picture of my exposed feet. lol

Due to the holiday everyone and their dog was there at the clinic today. It was packed. Every seat taken and rooms being used around the clinic.

Steven wins 1st place YMCA Essay Contest

This is the second time he has won the essay contest for the YMCA on the four pillars of character, which are: Respect, Responsibility, Caring, and Honesty. He wrote about his mother and the trials she is going through and how he helps her to feel better by helping around the house, getting straight A's on his report card, learning cooking and cleaning skills and just helping to make her life easier. He's a good kid.

He won this award last year also. So out of 3 seasons of basketball with the YMCA he has won this award twice. Not too shabby!

We brought the cat home from the office for an afternoon visit and Baba got attached to this cat...funny how that is. It purrs and purrs...but we can't have the cat at home because of Kristina's allergies to cats. She would be a sick puffed up mess if we did. So we only got to play with Angel for an afternoon.

John bought a cat from the rescue shelter as a rat catcher for his office. He must be going through a mid life crisis because John hates cats but he loves this one... and of course he named it Angel...yes...it's an it because it was fixed .... wouldn't have it any other way...

Steven has started his basketball season at Savanna HS. I wish I could go to his games. I can't go the week I have chemo because I'm not allowed to drive.

He has a game today...I hope they win...GO REBELS!!

Well...here I sit with my new blanket I got from the YW yesterday at church. They were so cute to present this to me. It was so nice to be on the receiving end of this project. I had done so many others when I was YW president. So now I know how it feels. And it feels really good to know people care about you! I will be bringing this blanket with me each time I go to have my chemo session.

We went as a family to the Los Angeles Temple early Saturday morning. It was a nice to be with the family on the temple grounds again. Paul and Jennie got married here. It was the first time they had been back since they got married two and a half years ago. Steven and Stephanie stayed outside while we went inside.

Baba was so happy to see James. She sees his picture on the computer screen everyday and asks about him. She remembers his name too. She knows he is named after Jiji, her husband.
